As we walked down the lane, A little distraught and in pain, By seeing the suffering of our poor, With no roof over their head, no windows, no door.
We thought of how the world has changed like we’ve never seen, With the menace we now call Covid 19, We missed the hustle and the bustle that we once dreaded, The traffic on the streets, the chaotic madness around us,
The cacophony of sounds, the hullabaloo, the kerfuffle is what we yearned, How ironic this feeling was, considering this is all what we once spurned.
Found ourselves we did behind four walls, Stuck in an unending loop of running errands, work and calls Our world had changed for real, It all seemed so surreal
As the morning Sun dawned on us the next day, We walked down the lane once again, in its ray, But what we saw changed our point of view, Our myopia almost cost us dearly, we knew.
The air was clean, the Sun shone bright, Some stars were still twinkling in the morning sky, Devoid of us humans, the animals ran, the sidewalks were clean, the streets spic and span
It’s almost as if mother Earth had paused and hit the reset button, And our world had turned over, all of a sudden, The feeling of foreboding slowly started to fade away Giving rise to hope with each passing day
Stay home is what we needed to do during quarantine, And cherish the time with our family and a little less time on screen, We prayed for the dead and wished the sick well, We encouraged our Doctors who had a huge wave to quell.
There was a battle ahead of us all, a War too, We knew we will emerge triumphant and conquer SARS-COV2.
